Fionn Akhdhar

2014 Bay Arab gelding. 1.58m high Picture of Fionn
Sire: Murhib
Dam: Pulcheria Knedo
Full pedigree:

Esther was asked to train Russian bred mare Pulcheria Knedo for 2 years to see if she had the potential for international endurance (like her mother ND’s Pirobelle). In exchange, Esther would get to breed a foal. Pul spent 2 years at Esther’s and managed her novice qualifications without any problems. After that she went back to her owner where she is still a broodmare.

Pul was bred to race stallion Murhib, an Amer son, and gave birth to Fionn in 2014, a big bold bay colt, born on the same day as her first horse Moreno. They even had similar markings, so that made him even more special for Esther. Fionn grew up in a big nature reserve and was gelded just before the move to the UK. As Esther had not much time to work with a young horse, he was started under saddle at a race yard and hopefully will do his first endurance rides in 2020.

Pulcheria is out of Marcipan (Paruznik) and 3* mare ND’s Pirobelle (Gwizd), a good start for a potential endurance horse. Gwizd has produced several good endurance horses, besides Pirobelle also multiple 160 horses Epson de la Bruskaie and Alicia D’Havenne. Gwizd’s father Probat is a legend of course, with fantastic progeny in Poland, Russia and America.

Sire Murhib (by Amer) is an excellent racehorse, who has sired some outstanding young racehorses. As all of these are still young, no siblings have been tried in international endurance yet. As Amer progeny are so popular and impressive in racing, they are only slowly coming into endurance and starting to do interesting stuff.
