Fionn Akhdhar

Gelding (sold)

2014 Bay Arab gelding. 1.58m high
Sire: Murhib
Dam: Pulcheria Knedo
Full pedigree:

Esther was asked to train Russian bred mare Pulcheria Knedo for 2 years to see if she had the potential for international endurance (like her mother ND’s Pirobelle). In exchange, Esther would get to breed a foal. Pul spent 2 years at Esther’s and managed her novice qualifications without any problems. Pul seemed to have inherited her mother's talents! Pulcheria went back to her owner after her novice qualifications, where she is still a broodmare producing lovely foals.

Pul was bred to race stallion and Amer son Murhib to produce a foal for Esther. She gave birth to Fionn in 2014, a big, bold bay colt, born on the same day as her first horse Moreno. They even had similar markings, so that made him even more special for Esther. Fionn grew up in a big nature reserve to become a strong, adaptable social horse and was gelded just before Esther moved to the UK. Today Fionn is a big-boned and physically powerful horse, with the sweetest and gentlest personality. Amazing qualities for a top endurance horse.

Fionn is sold to a lovely home and hopefully we will see him out competing

Pulcheria is out of Marcipan (Paruznik) and 3* mare ND’s Pirobelle (Gwizd), a good start for a potential endurance horse. Gwizd has produced several good endurance horses, besides Pirobelle also multiple 160 horses Epson de la Bruskaie and Alicia D’Havenne. Gwizd’s father Probat is a legend of course, with fantastic progeny in Poland, Russia and America.

Sire Murhib (by Amer) is an excellent racehorse, who has sired some outstanding young racehorses. As all of these are still young, no siblings have been tried in international endurance yet. As Amer progeny are so popular and impressive in racing, they are only slowly coming into endurance and starting to do interesting stuff.
